India's Merchandise Exports Dip 3.52 Per Cent To $32.62 Billion In September, Trade Deficit At $26.72 Billion: Govt Data

India's merchandise export contracted 3.52 per cent to $32.62 billion in September while the trade deficit was at $26.72 billion, according to data released by the Commerce Ministry on Monday (3 October).

Meanwhile, India’s merchandise export in April-September 2022-23 increased by 15.54 per cent to $229.05 billion as compared to $198.25 billion in the same period last fiscal.

According to the government data, the country’s merchandise import in September 2022 was $59.35 billion, an increase of 5.44 per cent over $56.29 billion in September 2021

Further, India’s merchandise imports in April-September 2022-23 was $378.53 billion with an increase of 37.89 per cent over $274.5 billion in April-September 2021-22.

The trade deficit in September 2022 was $26.72 billion against $22.47 billion in September 2021.

However, the trade deficit in September 2022 was an improvement over trade deficit of $28.68 billion in August 2022.

Meanwhile, the trade deficit was $149.47 billion during April-September 2022-23, compared to $76.25 billion during the same period last fiscal.
