Mysuru’s Jumbo Savari To Be Back In Its Grand Avatar After Two Year Hiatus As Karnataka Gears Up For Royal Dasara

Karnataka will have a grand Dasara this year after a two-year pandemic break, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday (19 July).
CM Bommai chaired a high level committee meeting for the same, and while addressing the media later, he said it has been decided to promote the celebration of the ‘naada habba’ or ‘state festival’ event on an international level.
All websites, advertisements, notices, and social media posts of the government will have to carry the Mysuru Dasara Logo. Bommai said the Department of Information and Public Relations has also been asked to ensure promotional material related to Mysuru Dasara be positioned at Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai airports and other such public spaces.

A website is being developed for the same, he added. All traditional rituals that have been held for years around the Mysore palace, including the royal elephant parade of Jumbo Savari, that were all low-key in the pandemic years, will be conducted with great fanfare and the annual exhibition fair will be open for two weeks ahead of Dasara, he informed.
MUDA will be providing a grant of Rs 10 crore for the conduct of public festivities and the government intends to rope in contributions as part of CSR too for the celebrations this year, he said, as per a release.
The two other Dasara celebrations, each at Shrirangapattana and Chamarajanagara, have also been given a grant of Rs 1 crore each.
Dasara festivities will be held in the state from 26 September 2022 and culminate on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami on 5 October. The elephants that take part in the procession will return to their respective camps on 7 and 8 October, marking the end of the celebrations.
