Security has been bolstered around the Gyanwapi mosque complex as the court-appointed committee has initiated its survey for the second consecutive day.

The western wall of the Gyanwapi complex, where the remains of the demolition of the Hindu temple are visible even today, will be surveyed on Sunday.

The lock of the fourth room has been opened for the same today. Lawyers representing the Hindu side revealed that several unheard-of aspects were disclosed during the survey on Saturday.

The district court has ordered the completion of the ongoing inspection by 17th May. Ravi Kumar Diwakar, Civil Judge (Senior Division), has also warded off objections over the opening of the couple of closed basements in the mosque complex for the purpose of this entire exercise.

Earlier, the survey was halted due to the objections raised by the mosque committee. They claimed that the court-appointed advocate commissioner did not have the required mandate to film the inside of the concerned premises.

However, this plea was dismissed by the district court, India Today reports.

The local court is currently hearing a petition by a Delhi-based women’s group that is seeking permission to offer daily prayers to the idols of Hindu deities on the outer walls of the Gyanwapi mosque.
