Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tapir Gao has said that Miram Taron, the youth who went missing from the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh last month, was beaten up by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The youth was handed over to the Indian Army by the PLA on 27 January days after he went missing.

"This is a serious matter. I urge Govt to raise this issue with authorities concerned," he added.

Earlier on 19 January, Gao had said that PLA abducted a boy from inside the Indian territory in Arunachal's Upper Siang district on 18 January.

Gao said that the incident took place near the place where Tsangpo river enters India in Arunachal Pradesh. Tsangpo is called as Siang in Arunachal Pradesh and Brahmaputra in Assam.

The Army sought assistance from PLA to locate the individual on their side and return him as per established protocol.

On 27 January, the Chinese PLA handed over Miram Taron to the Indian Army at Wacha-Damai interaction point in Arunachal Pradesh.
