Pakistan’s military chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has issued an extraordinary nuclear threat against India during a private event in the United States, warning that Islamabad would “take half the world down” if faced with an existential crisis.

Speaking at a black-tie dinner in Tampa hosted for businessman Adnan Asad, Pakistan’s honorary consul in the city, Munir declared: “We are a nuclear nation, if we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” ThePrint reported, citing attendees.

Mobile devices were reportedly barred from the event, and his remarks were reconstructed from the recollections of multiple participants.

Munir also invoked the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing India of risking “250 million people” by suspending it.

“We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does so, 10 missiles se faarigh kar denge (we will destroy it with 10 missiles),” he said, adding, “The Indus River is not the Indians’ family property. Humein missilon ki kami nahi hai, al-Hamdulillah (we don’t have a missile shortage, Praise be to God).”

According to the report, Munir repeatedly referred to India during his speech, recalling a social media post featuring Surah Fil and industrialist Mukesh Ambani “to show them what we will do the next time.”

Using what he called a “crude analogy,” Munir said: “India is shining Mercedes coming on a highway like Ferrari, but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?”

He also took aim at New Delhi’s current trade tensions with Washington under President Donald Trump, joking that Pakistan should offer “masterclasses” in balancing rival powers.

"The real reason for our success is that we are not misers. If someone does good work, we praise and appreciate them. That is why we nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Prize," Munir said, according to the report.

Munir was in Tampa for the US Central Command’s change of command ceremony and met senior US military leaders.

This was his second visit to Washington since the recent Operation Sindoor clashes with India. His first trip included a private luncheon with Trump, after which the former US president announced expanded US-Pakistan cooperation, including a bizarre oil deal.
