IAF's Sukhoi Su-30 MKI, Mirage 2000 Fighter Jets Crash In Madhya Pradesh's Morena

Two fighter jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF) - a Sukhoi Su-30 MKi and a Mirage 2000 - crashed in Madhya Pradesh's Morena on Saturday (28 January).

The two aircraft reportedly took off from Gwalior air base in Madhya Pradesh for a routine training exercise.

One of the three pilots involved in the accident sustained fatal injuries and died, according to the reports.

While two pilots on Su-30 sustained minor injuries, the third pilot on Mirage died after being fatally wounded in the crash, India Today reported.


According to the reports, wreckage of the crashed fighter jets was found in Bharatpur in Rajasthan and Morena in Madhya Pradesh.

"Two fighter aircraft of IAF were involved in an accident near Gwalior today morning. The aircraft were on routine operational flying training mission. One of the three pilots involved, sustained fatal injuries. An inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident," the IAF said in a statement.

According to the reports, the court of inquiry ordered by the IAF will examine if a mid-air collision led to the crash.
