The Indian Army has announced the introduction of a new promotion and ranking policy, set to take effect from 1 January 2024, reported ANI.

This policy is designed to align with the current and future operational challenges faced by the Army, both domestically and internationally.

Army officials explained that this consistent policy, tailored to the dynamic operational needs of the force, aims to standardise the selection and ranking processes for colonels and higher ranks.

Additionally, the policy aims to address the career aspirations of officers across all arms and services, ensuring more balanced outcomes in promotion boards and reinforcing meritocracy.

Presently, the Indian Army's human resource management operates under various policies for different selection boards. The implementation of this uniform policy marks a significant shift towards a more cohesive and fair approach in managing its personnel.
