India's Strategic Forces Command Succesfully Test Agni-1 Medium Range Ballistic Missile

India's Strategic Forces Command (SFC) has conducted a successful test of Agni-1 ballistic missile on June 1.

The test was conducted from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha, according to statement released by the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The Agni-1 test launch was a user training launch which validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile.

Agni-1 was first tested in May 1989 under the Defence Research and Development Organisations (DRDO's), Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP).

The missile is capable of delivering more than 1000 kilograms of both, the conventional and nuclear warheads.

And even advanced version of Agni-1 missile, Agni-Prime, is also under development. The missile was first tested in June 2021 and has a two-stage solid-fueled propulsion system compared to the Agni-1's liquid-fueled propulsion system.

This makes the missile easier to launch and accurate compared to the earlier liquid-fueled missile systems.
