A terrorist was gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Saturday (19 February).
Acting on specific input about the presence of militants at Chermarg in the Zainapora area of Shopian, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there, a police official said.
The forces retaliated, ensuing an encounter, in which a terrorist was killed, the official said.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorist is yet to be ascertained.
The J&K police said that the search operation for other terrorists is going on.
On 2 February, a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed in an encounter in the Nadigam area of Shopian district in J&K.
