India's hour-long media briefing today (11 May) offered vital insights into Operation Sindoor, a strategic retaliatory operation initiated in response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack. Senior officials, including DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal A K Bharti, Vice Admiral A N Pramod, and Maj Gen SS Sharma, detailed India’s precision strikes on Pakistan, delivering a significant blow to its military and terror infrastructure.

Below are eight key takeaways from the briefing.

1. Undeniable Precision Strikes

India used advanced weaponry in Operation Sindoor to ensure clear evidence of success, unlike the 2019 Balakot strikes, with Air Marshal A K Bharti presenting satellite imagery showing pinpointed destruction of terror targets. This approach eliminated ambiguity, showcasing India’s technological precision and operational effectiveness in targeting terror infrastructure.

2. Significant Pakistan Army Losses

The Indian Army reported 35-40 Pakistan Army personnel killed along the Line of Control from May 7 to May 10 during Operation Sindoor. Air Marshal A K Bharti noted these casualties as a direct outcome of India’s retaliatory strikes on military assets, underscoring the operation’s impact on Pakistan’s forces.

3. Over 100 Terrorists Neutralized

DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai confirmed that over 100 terrorists, including high-value targets like Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed, were killed in precision strikes on nine terror hubs. Achieving total surprise, the operation dismantled key terror infrastructure in Muridke and Bhawalpur, responding to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

4. Indian Navy’s Strategic Deployment

5. Successful Downing of Pakistani Aircraft

Air Marshal A K Bharti confirmed that the Indian Air Force downed several high-tech Pakistani aircraft, potentially including F-16s or J-10Cs, while preventing them from entering Indian airspace. Technical data is being analyzed to confirm the exact number of losses, demonstrating India’s robust air defense capabilities.

6. Foiled Infiltration and Ceasefire Breaches

Pakistan attempted infiltrations along the LoC during ceasefire violations, possibly involving terrorists or Special Forces, but all were thwarted by Indian forces. Hours after the May 10 ceasefire, Pakistan deployed drones targeting Indian military and civilian infrastructure, a tactic continued with drone incursions on May 11, reflecting ongoing provocations.

7) Rafale Loss Reports Unconfirmed, Objectives Met

Addressing speculation about Rafale jets being downed, Air Marshal A K Bharti acknowledged that “losses are a part of any combat scenario” but did not confirm or deny the claims. He emphasized that Operation Sindoor’s objectives were achieved with all pilots returning safely, prioritizing mission success over speculative details while combat continues.

8. India’s Proactive and Punitive Strategy

Indian Army DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai declared, “I’m not so concerned about what Pakistan will do. I’m concerned about what we will do. We have a roadmap and a plan and we will follow it to a T.”

With that message, India told Pakistan that if provoked, it won't hesitate—its plan for retribution is already in place and will be executed with swift, uncompromising force.
