Indian Air Force (IAFs) three Rafale fighters jets will take part in Bastille Day parade in Paris on 14 July as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Bastille day parade as the Guest of Honour.

According to a report by ET, the three Rafale fighters will perform a flypast over the Champs-Élysées in Paris along with their French counterparts.

A tri-service contingent of the IAF, Army and Navy will also take part in the parade.

Earlier last month, the Ministry of External Affairs announced that the Prime Minister Modi will be the guest of honour of the Bastille day parade.

"The prime minister's visit is expected to herald the next phase in the India-France strategic partnership by setting new and ambitious goals for our strategic, cultural, scientific, academic, economic cooperation, including in a wide range of industries," the ministry added.

India has acquired 36 Rafale fighter jets in 2016 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited France at a cost of €8.7 billion.

Dassault Rafale's are 4++ generation multirole fighter jets, which are capable of performing various air-defence, air-interdiction, electronic attack and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaisannce missions.

Rafales come armed with long-range Meteor missiles which have a range of more than 100 kilometre and a no-escape zone (NEZ) three times larger than contemporary missiles.

The French Scalp-EG long-range strike missile, on the other hand, gives the jet, the capability to hit strategic targets with a range of more than 500 kilometre.
