IAF's MiG-21 Fighter Jet Crashes In Rajasthan's Hanumangarh: Here's What We Know So Far

An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-21 crashed into a home in a village in Rajasthan today, killing three people.
The jet had taken off from the Suratgarh Airbase and crashed near Pilibanga in the Hanumangarh district after developing a technical snag. The pilot ejected before the crash and is safe, having sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The IAF tweeted, "A MiG-21 aircraft of the IAF crashed near Suratgarh during a routine training sortie this morning. The pilot ejected safely, sustaining minor injuries. An inquiry has been instituted to ascertain the cause of the accident."
According to an NDTV report, three villagers were killed in the crash.
Rescue operations have been launched in the area by the police, and an inquiry has been initiated to determine the reasons for the crash.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bikaner Om Prakash said, "The pilot made all efforts to avert human casualties and crash-landed the plane on the outskirts of the village."
