Indian Navy, Uber Join Forces To Make Personal Travel Smooth Sailing For Naval Personnel And Their Families

The Indian Navy and ride-hailing service provider Uber have joined hands to make commuting easier for India's naval fraternity.
The two entities signed an agreement with the aim of providing reliable, convenient, safe, and economical mobility solutions for naval personnel and their families across the country.
India's naval community will receive several benefits from Uber, including a personalised profile on the Uber app and access to the premier executive cab category, which offers surge price protection during peak office hours.
Other benefits include availability of top-rated drivers, not having to pay cancellation charges on Uber rides, and 24x7 business support.
The memorandum of understanding between the Navy and Uber is in line with the Chief of Naval Staff's vision of ‘Happy Personnel’ under ‘SHIPS FIRST’, according to the Ministry of Defence's press note.
This is the first initiative of its kind in the armed forces and also aligns with the Indian government's 'Digital India' vision of embracing technology for transformative change.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff; Kala Hari Kumar, President, Navy Welfare and Wellness Association; and Abhinav Mittoo, Senior Country Manager, Uber for Business — India, South Asia, and Egypt.
