Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday (13 December) said that the Indian Army thwarted Chinese People's Liberation Army's (PLA) attempt to unilaterally change the status quo at the Line Of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh.

Making a statement in Lok Sabha, Singh said that on Friday (9 December), Chinese troops "attempted to unilaterally change the status quo by encroaching on the Line of Actual Control, in the Yangtse area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector".

"The Indian Army bravely prevented the PLA from encroaching on our territory, and forced them to withdraw to their posts. Some soldiers from both sides were injured in the skirmish," he added, reports AIR News.

Due to the timely intervention of the Indian military commanders, the PLA soldiers went back to their locations, the minister said.

He informed the lower house that no Indian Army soldier was either killed or seriously injured in the clash.

He added that local commander of the area held a flag meeting with his Chinese counterpart on Sunday and discussed the incident.

Further, the issue has been raised at a diplomatic level with the Chinese side, he said.
