Odisha Collaborates With Industry Leaders To Strengthen State’s Semiconductor Manufacturing Ecosystem

The government of Odisha has entered into agreements with three entities to establish a conducive environment for semiconductor manufacturing in the state, aligning with the growing manufacturing ecosystem in India.
The government signed three MoUs with — the India Electronic and Semiconductor Association (IESA), global semiconductor giant Synopsys, and the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), as reported by Economic Times.
Under the agreement with IESA, the association will assist the Odisha government in creating capacity-building programs and fostering the semiconductor ecosystem. This will be achieved through organising events and developing educational resources.
Further, the collaboration between Synopsys will include various aspects such as the O-Chip programme, talent transformation, workforce development, and readiness assessment of the state in semiconductors and the very large-scale integration (VLSI) domains.
A new MoU has been signed with ESC to support and enhance the export of electronics and IT/ITeS products from the country.
The government of Odisha successfully organised Odisha4Silicon-2023 — an innovative initiative aimed at developing a strong semiconductor ecosystem in the region. As part of this event, Electropreneur Park in Bhubaneswar launched the pan-India Design Challenge under O-Chip.
Odisha's Electronics and IT Minister TK Behera expressed that the programme met with enthusiastic responses from attendees and showcased the state's dedication to becoming a hub for semiconductor research and development.
Addressing the event virtually, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accentuated that Odisha4Silicon-2023 will enable the state to create a vibrant semiconductor ecosystem, drive innovation and economic growth, and generate employment opportunities for people.
The state has also launched the Odisha Semiconductor Fab and Fabless Innovation and Acceleration Programme (O-Chip) to catalyse the development of an ecosystem in the state.
Odisha has recently announced its 'Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy 2023', which provides an attractive package of incentives to potential investors.
The state's electronics and IT minister highlighted that these incentives are designed to be the most competitive and comprehensive to attract investment in the semiconductor industry.
