Centre Right India (CRI) was established in 2010 with the aim of increasing political awareness and nurturing an intellectually-vibrant, centre-right tradition in India. At CRI we share a vision of building this platform into a premier new media establishment for thought-leadership, commentary and journalism focused on centre-right political discourse.

Over the last two years, we have taken small but significant steps in this direction. The size of our commentator base as well as the issue-areas covered has grown exponentially. This has been complemented by an increasing readership from India and across the globe. However, we are not content to rest on our laurels and are working tirelessly to transform CRI into a self-sustaining intellectual institution that spans a multitude of media platforms. At the core of CRI’s mission lies a belief in the transformative and redemptive power of politics. Despite the rot that characterizes India’s polity, we remain staunch in our belief that it is only in the realm of the political that we can emancipate ourselves and our nation.

To work towards achieving this, CRI will undergo a slow transformation from a blog into a more serious entity in the coming months. We plan to focus on the following four areas

Centre Right India Blogsphere: CRI today is the largest congregation of bloggers sympathetic to the Indian Right. We’ve managed to build an excellent community of resident commentators and regular contributors. We will continue to consolidate and expand the CRI blog.

Centre Right Journal: We envision a high quality journal to be the flagship product from the CRI stable. The idea is to produce a journal that will become a must read for anybody who is seriously interested in Indian politics. The journal will focus on the politics, culture, society, narrative and thought leadership. We are in process of building competence for this initiative.

Samvaad: We propose to host web-delivered podcasts, talk-shows, and interviews with leading intellectuals, entrepreneurs, historians, social scientists and personalities. We are hoping this initiative provides an alternative to prime-time television debates that do not generally provide space for nuanced expression of ideas and thought processes

Shveta Chhatra: We envision this to be the umbrella under which grass root/digital activism and outreach initiatives will be conceptualized and executed. We will work with like minded think-tanks to organize a series of thematic debates and events across major cities of India. We plan to conduct essay writing/quiz competition in technology, journalism and law to expose target audience to a very vibrant centre-right intellectual discourse

We are pleased to announce that CRI is privileged to host India’s leading centre right thinkers and commentators including SwapanDasgupta, Kanchan Gupta, Ashok Malik, Prof R.Vaidyanathan and Aravindan Neelakandan. We look forward to hosting several other eminent intellectuals in the days to come.

To drive CRI initiative as a sustainable business model, we have floated a start-up private limited entity (further details to be made available in a voluntary disclosure document on the website).

We believe we have now given form to our ambition of nurturing a lasting institution for meaningful political discourse in India, and we look to you for continued support and patronage so we can build on these foundations.

Wish us luck.
