Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the priority corridor of the Agra Metro Rail Project via virtual mode on Wednesday. This corridor, spanning from Taj East Gate to Mankameshwar (Jama Masjid), aims to provide tourists with direct metro access to UNESCO World Heritage sites including the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Sikandra Tomb.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the Agra Metro from the Taj Mahal Metro Station and also took a ride to the Taj East Gate Metro Station. The metro will be open to the public starting 7 March.

The ‘priority corridor,’ comprising six stations along a 5.2-km stretch is part of the Agra Metro line-1 between Taj East gate and Sikandra.
