Larsen and Toubro (L&T), NCC and GR Infra among 16 real estate players have evinced interest in re-developing the Ahmedabad railway station in Gujarat.
The Ahmedabad station will be developed using the engineering, procurement, and construction mode. The estimated project cost is Rs 2,563 crore. The bidding process shall be a single stage two-packet bidding process.
The last date for submission of e-bid is 5 September, 2023 and the date of opening of e-bids (technical) is 8 September, 2023.
The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has re-floated the tender for the redevelopment of Ahmedabad station after making some course correction in the scope of the civil work.
The earlier tender was discharged in May as the bids received for Ahmedabad turned out to be too high, compared to the cost estimated by the Indian Railways.
The meeting was attended by prominent construction houses such as L&T, NCC Ltd., G R Infra, Dilip Buildcon, PSP Projects, AFCONS, KEC International, Thoth Infrastructure Ltd., IRCON, Ayesa India Pvt. Ltd., Adishwaram Corporation, Tirumala Seven Hills Pvt. Ltd., SID Constructions, ITD CEM Co., Jindal Steel Power and PDA Consultants.
The scope of work includes but is not limited to, undertaking civil and MEP works for the station building and associated infrastructure, which primarily consists of dedicated access roads (elevated/at-grade), multi-modal transit hub buildings, iconic building, development of surrounding circulation area, etc.
RLDA vice-chairman Ved Parkash Dudeja said, “The redevelopment of Ahmedabad station is amongst our flagship projects which will integrate different modes of transport such as high speed, metro, BRT, railways etc. while protecting the heritage structures, the station will be equipped with modern amenities for passengers and other visitors and will act as a new city centre. With the pre-bid meeting, we are one step closer to the redevelopment of this important station."
The revamped Ahmedabad station will feature a spacious roof plaza with a range of passenger amenities. It will have retail spaces, cafeterias, and recreational facilities, providing convenience and enjoyment for travellers.
The station will be constructed on both sides of the railway tracks, connecting both halves of the city.
