The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved Metro connectivity from HUDA City Centre to Cyber City in Gurugram, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said. It will cover a distance of 28.50 km and have 27 stations on the route.
The total cost of the project will be around Rs 5,450 crore, Goyal told reporters in a briefing here.
The entire project will be elevated and have a spur (side line) from Basai village for connectivity to the depot.
The project is proposed to be completed in four years from the date of its sanction and will be implemented by Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC).
It is estimated to lead to a daily ridership increase from 5.34 lakh in 2026 to 10.70 lakh in 205, the government statement said.
“Loan is being tied up with European Investment Board (EIB) and World Bank (WB),” it said, adding that 90 per cent of the land needed was government land and the shifting of utilities had started.
This will be a standard gauge line of 1435 mm (5 ft 8.5 inches).
The entire project will be elevated. The spur from Basai village has been provided for connectivity to depot.
