Delhi-Meerut RRTS: NCRTC Finishes Three Key Bridges For Anand Vihar Multimodal Station In Delhi Section Of Rapid Rail

In another significant development for the ongoing Rapid Rail project, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has completed the construction of three bridges over the Ghazipur drain in Delhi, as part of the multimodal transit integration at Anand Vihar RRTS station.

The bridges form a key component with integration work at Anand Vihar station nearing completion, as an advancement for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, reports Economic Times.

As part of the integration, the Anand Vihar RRTS station in the Delhi section of the corridor has been connected to the Anand Vihar Metro station, providing passengers with direct access to multiple transport modes.

At the concourse level, the RRTS station is linked to the Blue and Pink Lines of the Delhi Metro. The newly constructed bridges over the Ghazipur drain will facilitate the connection between the station and the main road.

These bridges, essential for station entry, are currently receiving finishing touches, including the construction of side walls and preparation for carpeting.

According to the report, each bridge has a specific purpose — one for vehicle entry (10 metres (m) wide, 28 m long), another for vehicle exit (13 m wide, 28 m long), and a third for pedestrians (5 m wide, 25 m long).

Both the concourse and platform levels are fully operational.

Designed for seamless connectivity, the integrated facility will ensure an enhanced travel experience for all passengers, including the elderly, women, and children.

Once operational, passengers will be able to move effortlessly between the metro station, Anand Vihar Railway Station, Anand Vihar ISBT, Kaushambi bus terminal, and the DTC intra-state bus terminal.

The RRTS, India's first Regional Rail Service, offers a unique rail-based commuter service for regional transit in the National Capital Region.

The corridor spans 82.15 km from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, making it the country's inaugural RRTS.
