A new six-lane highway is being developed to reduce traffic congestions and provide seamless connectivity for the people living in Delhi-NCR.
The six-lane access-controlled highway is currently being developed from DND Maharani Bagh to the Junction with the Jaitpur-Pushta Road Section of NH-148NA.
This network is part of the extension to link the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) Flyway and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
"The project, which is estimated to cost Rs. 2,627 crore, aims to reduce travel time from Noida and Delhi to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway by 3-4 hours. The road runs parallel to the Agra and Gurgaon canals through a green belt," Nitin Gadkari wrote on Twitter.
The new highway will also connect with major highways such as Direct Noida-Delhi flyways, Delhi-Meerut, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP), NH-2 (Delhi-Agra), Delhi Mumbai Expressway, and Jewar airport.
He stated, "As part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, a 6-Lane highway is being developed from Jaitpur-Pushta Road to the junction near the KMP Expressway section of National Highway 148".
"In the Delhi region, the section will feature a cross-elevated metro railway line at four locations. Additionally, a Vertical Garden has been planned for all piers along the stretch to provide aesthetic and environmental benefits," the tweet further read.
Link To Delhi-Mumbai Expressway
According to NHAI officials, the works on all three segments are simultaneously underway with an overall project cost estimated at Rs 5,063 crore.
The second package from Jaitpur to Ballabhgarh, will span 25 km, with the existing bypass being made a six-lane signal-free stretch for expressway traffic.
For local traffic, the NHAI is constructing service roads of three lanes each on both sides.
The network will be further extended from Ballabhgarh to Sohna with a stretch of 26 km, where it will be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
With this connectivity, a large number of passengers will be benefited as people travelling from different parts of Delhi would be able to directly access the newly opened Sohna-Dausa stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Progress
The Government of India planned the Delhi Mumbai Expressway, a 1,380-km controlled access highway, with an intention of linking and cutting down the travel time between the two major cities from 24 hours to 12 hours.
The eight-lane Delhi-Mumbai expressway will cover the Delhi-Mumbai distance by passing through five states and several greenfield sites, which will be developed into warehousing hubs.
The first stretch of the expressway running from Sohna in Haryana to Dausa in Rajasthan on 12 February, 2023 — covering 246 km.
The authority is overseeing the construction of the main carriage way through 53 different packages. The overall progress of the longest expressway on various packages till 31 March 2023 has been mapped below.
