On 16 September, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the development of a groundbreaking super app designed to revolutionise railway services in India.

The app, still in its planning stages, aims to consolidate multiple railway-related functionalities into a single platform. It will allow users to book tickets, check PNR status, track train movements, and access various other services, although specific features are yet to be detailed.

Vaishnaw highlighted the substantial advancements made by Indian Railways under the NDA government over the past decade. He emphasised that the upcoming super app will cater comprehensively to passenger needs, aiming to streamline and enhance the user experience.

The minister also highlighted the deployment of Kavach, an indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, across 10,000 railway coaches to enhance safety and prevent collisions and derailments.

He also noted the growing international interest in India’s Vande Bharat trains, including inquiries from countries like Chile. However, the minister mentioned that exports will commence with the fourth and fifth versions of Vande Bharat trains.
