IndiGo will be the first carrier to operate from the soon-to-be inaugurated Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya.
In a release on Wednesday (13 December), IndiGo said that the inaugural flight from Delhi will arrive in Ayodhya on 30 December.
Subsequently, commercial operations for a direct flight will commence between Delhi and Ayodhya from 6 January next year, followed by tri-weekly flights between Ahmedabad and Ayodhya from 11 January 2024.
Further, the airport has been inspected by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation team and soon permission will be granted and people will be able to travel by flight to Ayodhya.
With the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya scheduled for January 2024, the city is poised for a significant surge in travel activity. The new flights connecting Delhi to Ayodhya and Ahmedabad to Ayodhya will bring Ayodhya on the country’s aviation map and will provide ease of access to the city for pilgrims, as well as other tourists.
Ayodhya will also expand the network of the budget carrier and will be the 86th domestic destination and 118th overall destination, in its network.
