The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has announced a new policy to speed up land acquisition and ensure timely payouts.

Farmers will now receive full compensation within 72 hours of completing the land registry and handing over possession, officials said on Thursday (4 September), the Hindustan Times reported.

The move is aimed at resolving long-standing issues of delayed payments that often stretched for months, leading to farmer protests and slowing down infrastructure projects.

By guaranteeing swift payouts, YEIDA hopes to secure land without disputes and accelerate development in the region surrounding the Noida International Airport.

The government has already allocated Rs 3,000 crore to YEIDA for land acquisition, with another Rs 2,000 crore expected to be released soon.

So far, Yeida has disbursed over Rs 8,000 crore to around 7,000 farmers for 2,400 hectares acquired in the first two phases.

In the upcoming phase, the authority plans to acquire more than 1,800 hectares, which will benefit nearly 14,000 farmers. Land acquisition is also underway in multiple sectors.

“Timely compensation will also allow construction and development work to begin without hindrance. We want the farmers to get their full compensation with ease without waiting for long as the farmers play a pivotal role in the development,” YEIDA chief executive officer R K Singh was quoted as saying by HT.

Officials said the authority has sufficient funds at its disposal, which will help speed up development work in the city.
