The Uttar Pradesh chief secretary, Durga Shankar Mishra, reviewed the ongoing development work in Lucknow on Saturday (15 July). He expressed his belief that these projects would showcase the city's growth under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Lucknow has seen the implementation of various infrastructure and beautification projects.

While some are nearing completion, others are still in progress. These projects include those related to NHAI, PWD, rail services, and airports.

Lucknow Ring Road

During the review, Mishra was informed about the progress of the 105-km Lucknow Ring Road project.

The Outer Ring Road will connect 104 villages to the city at the cost of Rs 5,500 crore, as per previous reports.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has divided the work on the eight-lane circular road, which is also National Highway (NH)-230, into two phases under different packages.

The Package-1 covers a distance of 31.75 km from Sultanpur Road to Behta Road. It is reported to be 94 per cent complete, as per the review.

A 32.89 km stretch of the road has been taken from Behta Road to Sitapur Road as part of Package-2 which has reached 64 per cent completion.

Further, 99.56 per cent completion of the stretch from Sitapur to Kursi Road was recorded and stretch from Kursi Road to Ayodhya Road is 100 per cent complete.

Additionally, the Public Works Department has completed 31 per cent of the construction of a flyover at Munshipulia intersection and 36 per cent of a 2.6 km elevated road at Khurramnagar intersection.

Another ongoing project is the expansion of Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA). The objective of the proposed advancement is to expand aircraft movements and handle increased passenger capacity.

Presently, the combined passenger handling capacity of the existing two terminals of the airport is planned for 43 lakh flyers over a year.

The terminals are, however, handling nearly 55 lakh flyers, which is 28 per cent more than the airport’s built capacity.

This expansion aims to increase the annual passenger capacity from 43 lakh to 1.37 crore and the peak-hour passenger handling capacity from around 1,000 passengers per hour to up to 4,000 passengers per hour.

The new terminal will also introduce several new facilities, including a dedicated pick-up and drop-offs, and a planned skywalk at Terminal 3 to connect it with the metro station.

Lucknow Airport International Limited (LIAL), an Adani Group company and the body in charge of managing operations of the CCSI Airport.

Gomtinagar Station Redevelopment

The redevelopment of the Gomtinagar Railway Station is currently underway, with a budget of Rs 377 crore.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by December.

Around 75 per cent work is done on the north terminal building, 10 per cent each on south terminal building and concourse and 70 per cent on the flyover and 40 per cent on the utility building.
