The Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro-3 Corridor of Mumbai has completed almost 95 per cent of station and tunnel works.
In station and tunnel works, phase-1 from Aarey to BKC reached 96.8 per cent progress and phase-2 from BKC to Cuffe parade reached 94.1 per cent progress.
Recently, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) shared the project progress as on 31 December 2022.
According to it, the overall project progress reached 77.6 per cent. It stands at 82 per cent for phase-1 and 75.2 per cent for phase-2.
While the depot works reached 37.8 per cent progress, overall station construction reached 87.5 per cent progress.
Recently MMRCL said that the first phase – Aarey to BKC – of the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro-3 Corridor would be operationalised soon in 2023.
Mumbai Metro Line 3: City’s first underground public transport system
Metro Line 3 is a 33.5 km long underground corridor running along Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ. The corridor length is marked with 27 key stations, out of which 26 will be underground.
Metro Line 3 would connect Mumbai’s key financial hubs, such as Nariman Point, Bandra-Kurla-Complex, Fort, Worli, Lower Parel, Goregaon, etc. The metro will provide for the first time connectivity to the airport, Nariman Point, Cuffe Parade, Kalbadevi, Worli, BKC, Airport, SEEPZ and MIDC.
Besides, two crucial heritage stations of Mumbai, i.e. CSTM and Churchgate, will also get joined through the alignment.
