Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced that progress of the Sewri-Worli link road, under the Sewri-Nhava Sheva project, is currently 57 per cent complete, and anticipated for full completion by the end of December 2025.
The Sewri Worli link road project is crucial for providing signal-free connectivity between Mumbai’s east and west and part of the newly launched Mumbai Trans Harbour Link’s (MTHL) traffic dispersal system.
The SWEC's strategic alignment establishes a crucial link between MTHL and Bandra Worli Sea Link/Coastal Road, ensuring direct and signal-free connectivity between the two sea links.
This road is projected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion, particularly for commuters traveling between the east and west coasts, reducing current travel times from 40-60 minutes to just 10 minutes, reports Times Of India.
Initially budgeted at Rs 1,051.86 crore, the project commenced in January 2021 with an original target completion date set for January 2024.
