Prime Minister Or President Will Inaugurate Bengaluru - Mysuru Expressway In February: Gadkari

Union minister Nitin Gadkari said that either the Prime Minister or the President would inaugurate the Bengaluru - Mysuru expressway by February end of this year.

The union minister of Road Transport and Highways inspected the ten-lane Bengaluru - Mysuru expressway on Thursday (5 January). He did an aerial survey of the expressway on a chopper and also travelled to some extent on the expressway by bus.


Replying to a question regarding tolls, the union minister said that one must pay to enjoy the great travel experience on the expressway and otherwise one can always use service roads to travel without toll charges.

He said that commuters would gain with less travel time and fuel savings, and thus tolls on expressways should not be seen as a burden.

Bengaluru - Mysuru expressway: Growth engine of Southern Karnataka

The 10-lane Bengaluru - Mysuru expressway reduces travel time between the major cities of Karnataka to less than 90 minutes from the current three hours.


The 117 km long expressway, taken up with over Rs 8,408 crore, is being developed under two packages. The first one runs from Bengaluru to Nidaghatta in Maddur taluk for around 56 km. The second package, which is 61 km long, connects Nidaghatta to Mysuru.

52 km of this project is greenfield consisting of five bypasses which will reduce traffic blocks and create a hassle-free journey.
