Fastening the speed of building a semi high-speed railway line between Pune and Nashik, the Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation (Maha rail) has invited an expression of interest (EOI) from companies to build railway stations for the project.

The much-awaited Pune-Nashik Semi-High speed Rail Line will bring down travel time between two cities from the present six hours to one and half hours, boosting passenger and freight movements. Thus, it will facilitate the creation of the Mumbai-Pune-Nashik golden triangle as an emerging economic hub.

The Maharashtra government has approved the pending Pune- Nashik railway project in annual budget 2021-22.

“Work has been started for the project and district collectors of Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad have started work in their respective districts. We are providing the funds and the central government has also approved the project. I also had a meeting with railway minister Raosaheb Danve at Sahyadri guest house. I have asked him to provide funding from the centre for Nashik - Pune railway project. State government and other stakeholders are ready with funding,” said Ajit Pawar, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, reports Hindustan Times.

The Pune-Nashik Semi-High speed Rail line will pass through three districts of Maharashtra, i.e. Pune, Ahmednagar and Nasik.

Development of Private Freight Terminal (PFT), dry port, multimodal and commercial hub, warehouses and siding at suggested locations by local industries is part of this project.
