The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has garnered interest from 19 companies bidding for the construction of the east and west corridors of the Pune Ring Road.

The total length of the east and west ring road is 136 km, with approximate 110 metres width. The eastern ring road measures 71.35 km and the western ring road spans 65.45 km.

According to a statement from the MSRDC office, the construction will be executed in phases. The western corridor will be divided into five phases, covering lengths of 14 km, 20 km, 14 km, 7.50 km, and 9.50 km respectively. Meanwhile, the eastern corridor will span four phases with lengths of 11.85 km, 13.80 km, 21.20 km, and 24.50 km.

Tender invitations were issued on 17 January, with a submission deadline set for 1 March. The submitted tenders were subsequently opened on 26 March.

The project aims to initiate construction in all five phases concurrently. The proposed western ring road will traverse through Bhor, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval talukas, while the eastern ring road is planned to pass through Maval, Khed, Haveli, Purandar, and Bhor talukas.

MSRDC has earmarked Rs 10,519 crore for this ambitious project. However, during a recent review meeting, District Collector Suhas Diwase highlighted concerns over financial impropriety allegations against officials involved in land acquisition, as per Deccan Herald report.

"Given the significant allocation from the state government for land acquisition, ensuring transparency and accountability in the process is crucial. We must address the reported financial misconduct allegations diligently," Diwase emphasised to the revenue and land acquisition department officials.
