Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the Union Railway Minister has assured a Rs 72,000 crore investment to fast-track railway projects across the state.

During a meeting with state officials and Railway Ministry representatives, Naidu emphasised the importance of accelerating the completion of all ongoing railway projects. He urged officials to expedite land acquisition processes and resolve any issues delaying progress.

At a review meeting on Tuesday (22 October), Naidu stressed the need for completion of all projects as per the timeline. “All projects where the tendering process was completed should be finished within three years. All the doubling and other projects should be completed in four years. The development of 72 railway stations should be completed within two years and development works worth Rs 3,170 crore should be completed within two and a half years,” he said, reports The Hindu.

Among the other key initiatives discussed was the Kotipalli-Narsapur railway line, which Naidu directed to be completed within four months. He also approved the immediate release of Rs 20 crore for land acquisition on the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti line and ordered the commencement of work on the Sattupalli-Kovvur railway line after land acquisition is completed.

Naidu also highlighted the importance of interlinking road, rail, and air networks to maximise the benefits of the infrastructure projects. He set a target for the completion of all ongoing railway works within three years and doubling projects within four years.
