Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh on Monday (22 September) to launch multiple development projects worth over Rs 5,100 crore at Itanagar, marking a major investment in the state’s energy, infrastructure, and tourism sectors.
He will lay the foundation stone for two major hydropower projects in the Siyom sub-basin, the 240 MW Heo Hydro Electric Project and the 186 MW Tato-I Hydro Electric Project, with a combined investment of over Rs 3,700 crore, according to a PMO release.
These projects aim to harness the state’s vast hydroelectric potential and boost sustainable energy generation.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art Convention Centre at Tawang.
Located at over 9,820 feet in the frontier district of Tawang, the centre will serve as a landmark facility to host national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch key infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,290 crore, covering connectivity improvements, healthcare, fire safety, and working women hostels.
These initiatives are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents and stimulate economic activity in the region.
During his visit, PM Modi will also engage with local taxpayers, traders, and industry representatives to discuss the impact of GST rate rationalisation, in line with his vision of fostering ease of doing business and building a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Northeast.
