Siemens To Invest Rs 186 Crore For Cutting-Edge Metro Train Production Facility In Aurangabad

German engineering firm Siemens Ltd will invest Rs 186 crore to build a state-of-the-art metro train manufacturing facility at Aurangabad in Maharashtra.

It will be setup by 2028 in a phased manner and will play a key role as an export hub for metro turnkey projects.

"This facility will be equipped with the latest technologies, locally procured components and skilled technical workforce, and can adapt to changing customer requirements," Siemens said in a statement.

Siemens has unveiled plans for a total capital expenditure of Rs 1,000 crore over the next couple of years to bolster its production capabilities.

This initiative includes a Rs 519 crore investment to expand its gas-insulated switchgear factory in Goa, alongside the Aurangabad metro train manufacturing facility. These efforts are in addition to capacity expansions at the power transformer factory in Kalwa and the vacuum interrupter factory in Goa, announced by the company in November 2023.
