Tamil Nadu: CMRL Submits Feasibility Reports For MRTS In Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli And Salem

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has submitted detailed feasibility reports to the government for the implementation of Mass Rapid Transport Systems (MRTS) in Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, and Salem in Tamil Nadu.
The reports were submitted by M A Siddique, the managing director of CMRL, to Ramesh Chand Meena, the Additional Chief Secretary of Special Initiatives.
The state government plans to introduce MRTS in Tiruchirappalli, consisting of two corridors with a total length of 45km. The first corridor will cover a 19 km stretch from Samayapuram to Vayaloor, with 19 proposed stations.
The second corridor will span 26 km from Thuvakudi to Panjapur, with 26 proposed stations.
The third corridor will cover 14.65 km from Sankarnagar to Vasanthanagar, with 15 proposed stations, reports The New Indian Express.
Similarly, in Salem, RTS is planned for a total length of 35.19 km, divided into three corridors. Corridor I will span 17.16 km from Karapuranathar temple to Ayodhyapattnam Railway Station via Ammapet, with 19 proposed stations.
Corridor 2 will cover 18.03 km from Karuppur to Nallikalapatty via Salem Railway Station, with 19 stations proposed.
