The first train set built by Titagarh Firema for Pune Metro (MoHUA)
The first locally built train-set from Titagarh Wagons’ plant in West Bengal was dispatched by the company for the Phase-1 of Pune Metro.
The concerned phase includes PCMC-Swargate along with Vanaz-Ramwadi lines.
The train set will be sent to the Vanaz Depot for servicing the partly operational Aqua Line of the city’s metro service.
Titagarh won the coach rolling stock contract back in August 2019 for Rs 1,125 crore.
The aluminium-body coaches possessing an axle load of 15.5T were claimed to be the lightest in India along with optimum safety standards, The Metro Rail Guy reports.
Titagarh is reportedly a bit late according to its schedule, given that it was supposed to deliver the train-set towards the end of the previous calendar year.
As per Business Today, the company upgraded its manufacturing unit in Uttarpara near Kolkata after receiving the aforementioned Pune Metro order.
The modernised plant has paved the way for the indigenisation of multiple critical components like brake systems, interiors and bogie frames for these trains.
