In line with advancing renewable energy transition and meeting growing consumption demands, Uttar Pradesh is seeing the development of several large-scale solar projects which includes nine solar parks with a total capacity of 3,710 MW.

Out of these, three parks with a total capacity of 435 MW have been commissioned, and land allocation for all nine parks has been completed.

The parks are located in the Bundelkhand region (covering Jhansi, Lalitpur, Chitrakoot and Jalaun) as well as in Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Mirzapur and Prayagraj.

The bidding process for the parks currently under construction is underway.

Anupam Kumar Shukla, Director of the UP New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, stated, “The state government has secured substantial investments for the development of these solar parks. Out of the nine parks, those with capacities of 365 MW and 65 MW have already been commissioned.”

The tender for the Jhansi solar park has been recently issued, while tenders for Lalitpur, Chitrakoot and Jalaun are expected to be released soon.

The state has set a goal to generate 22,000 MW of electricity from solar energy.

This target includes the installation of 6,000 MW of solar rooftop systems on private and government buildings, along with 14,000 MW from solar utility projects and solar parks.

Additionally, under the PM-KUSUM Yojana, 16.17 MW of grid-connected tube wells are being powered by solar energy.
