The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced plans to construct a high-speed road corridor to ease the movement of traffic between north and south Mumbai.

The VDLR will connect Versova in the western suburbs with Dahisar in the northernmost part of the city. It will originate from the Lokhandwala interchange and extend towards the north.

The 24.29-kilometre Versova-Dahisar Link Road (VDLR) will be the second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP).

The first phase of the MCRP, which will link Nariman Point in the southernmost tip of Mumbai with the Bandra-Worli-Sea Link (BWSL), is nearly complete with 75 per cent of the construction work done.


The initial phase of the project, spanning over 4.5 kilometers, will connect the VBSL interchange in Versova to Lokhandwala. It will feature an arterial road built on stilts, a basket bridge, and elevated roads.

The second phase of the VDLR project, which is 7.48 kilometers long, will connect Lokhandwala to Mindspace in Goregaon. This section will include an elevated road and a cable-stayed bridge, providing a smooth ride to commuters.

Spanning over 5.32 kilometers, the third phase of the VDLR project will connect Mindspace to Charkop. This section will have an open-to-sky ramp and an underground tunnel between Malad and Charkop, providing a unique experience to commuters.

The final phase of the VDLR project, spanning over 6.95 kilometers, will include a cable-stayed bridge, a basket bridge, and an arterial road, providing a seamless connection for the commuters.
