Ahead of the Ram Temple inauguration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first Amrit Bharat train to Sitamarhi, the birthplace of Sita, from Ayodhya on 30 December.

While the inaugural run will be from Ayodhya to Sitamarhi, the 22-coach, non-AC train will be a regular service for Bihar from New Delhi connecting Ayodhya.

Using push-pull technology, the saffron-coloured Amrit Bharat Express with 130 kilometres per hour speed will have general and sleeper facilities.

Two pull-push trains are being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. While one is to be operational for Bihar, another is slated to be pressed into service in the Mumbai sector.

Starting from Darbhanga, the Amrit Bharat Express will connect Sita’s birthplace in Janakpur to Ayodhya while passing through Sitamarhi, Raxaul, and Valmikinagar to reach New Delhi, with Ayodhya as one of the stops.

Besides Amrit Bharat, the Prime Minister will launch six Vande Bharat trains, including one from Ayodhya to Anand Vihar and also to the Ayodhya airport on 30 December.

The redevelopment work at Ayodhya station is also nearing completion. Equipped with modern amenities, the revamped railway station is expected to handle a larger crowd.

According to the Railways, about 1,000 train services will be operational for Ayodhya, connecting all major cities for the next three months after the temple inauguration.
