Ayodhya To Get Eight New Flights From 1 February
The Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhya.
In order to boost air connectivity for the holy city of Ayodhya and facilitate the arrival of pilgrims, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is set to launch eight new flight routes for Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on 1 February 2024.
The new flight routes will connect Ayodhya with Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna, Darbhanga, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The initiative aims to strengthen the connection between these cities and the revered destination.
There were about five lakh visitors at Ayodhya for the Ram temple on the first day of its opening on 23 January and since then the numbers have remained consistently high, with daily visits reaching about two lakhs.
Besides enabling connectivity, this move is seen to boost spiritual tourism in Ayodhya.
The immense demand emanating from the recent Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ram Temple has increased the tourism potential of Ayodhya and laid down a new path for economic and social development.
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the newly-built Ayodhya Airport, named Maharishi Valmiki International Airport.
In the first phase the airport can handle 10 lakh passengers annually and after the second phase, Maharishi Valmiki International Airport is expected to cater to 60 lakh commuters annually.
The airport will improve connectivity in the region, leading to a boost in tourism, business activities and employment opportunities.
