Bangalore Metro Awaits Approval For DPR Of Phase-3 Expansion To Be Built With Rs 13,000 Crore

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to seek approval from the State government for the final Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Phase 3 Metro submitted by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) Limited, a Ministry of Railways consultancy.
BMRCL estimates that the 44.65-kilometre elevated project will cost more than Rs 13,000 crores and will carry 4.65 lakh passengers per day when it opens in 2028.
BMRCL held the final round of talks on Wednesday (24 July), according to BMRCL Managing Director Anjum Parwez. "We will send the DPR to the State government shortly, and the State government will send it to the Centre for approval," he said.
"Phase-3 is estimated to cost more than Rs 13,000 crore based on current (2022) rates." However, by the time the project is completed in 2028, the cost will have risen significantly because of increased construction costs and materials, among other factors," the MD explained, reports New Indian Express.
BMRCL has made no changes to the alignment of the two corridors proposed by RITES in its final DPR: Corridor One, which runs 32.15 kilometres from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura and has 22 stations, and Corridor Two, which runs 12.5 kilometres from Hosahalli to Kadabgere on Magadi Road and has nine stations.
