Under-construction Terminal 2 (T2) of the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA)
Godrej & Boyce announced on Monday (Jun 6) that its business Godrej MEP(Mechanical, Electrical, and Public health engineering) has been awarded an MEP contract worth Rs 107 crore for constructing a Multi-Model Transportation Hub (MMTH) that is being developed as part of Bangalore International Airport (BLR Airport) expansion project.
The MMTH will be located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the BLR airport and will cover roughly nine lakh square feet, the flagship company of the Godrej Group said in a statement.
Once Terminal 2 is operational, the MMTH will be able to meet the current and future needs of both people and luggage movement, the company said.
''The goal of this MMTH is to have closed parking with retail development at the ground level. With the creation of 75 kilometres of piping and 200 kilometres of cables, Godrej MEP will deliver the project in just under six months,'' the statement added.
The Terminal 2 (T2) of the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), will be operationalised by the last quarter of this year, according to airport operator, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).
The Rs 13,000-crore terminal billed as a garden experience is being built in two phases. The first phase will have a total built-up area of 2.54 lakh sq m while the second one will have 4.41 lakh sq m. It will have a lagoon with a big outdoor garden around it. When completed, Phase-I is expected to cater to 25 million passengers annually.
