Bhopal - Kanpur Economic Corridor: 18 Highway Projects Of Rs 6,800 Crore Inaugurated In Madhya Pradesh's Bundelkhand
- Bhopal - Kanpur Economic Corridor under construction at a cost of Rs 11,300 crore reduces the travel time between Bhopal and Kanpur from the present 15 hours to just 7 hours.

In a move that would boost the road connectivity in the backward Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, union minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 18 National Highway (NH) projects costing Rs 6,800 crore.
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Dr Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of State Prahlad Singh Patel and other ministers of the state were present on the occasion.
At an event organised at Orchha, the union minister inaugurated NH projects of a total length of 550 km, including Sagar Greenfield Link Road.
Other projects inaugurated include 18 km long and four lane greenfield bypass for Orchcha built at a cost of Rs 520 crore, 665 metre long bridge on River Betwa at a cost of 25 crore and flyovers in Sagar City, Chhatarpur City and Garhakota.
Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari said that the union government is spending around Rs 70,000 crore to improve connectivity to holy places like Ayodhya, Chitrakoot and Orchcha which are related to God Sri Ram.
Gadkari said that with the newly inaugurated highway projects, there will be easy connectivity to reach the tourist places of Madhya Pradesh like Orchha, Khajuraho, Panna, Chitrakoot, Tikamgarh, Sanchi.
In this program, Gadkari announced the construction of a four lane greenfield road of 105 km length from Bamitha to Satna at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore. With the construction of this road, tourism of Tikamgarh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Khajuraho, Bandhavgarh National Park will get a boost.
Along with this, the union minister announced that a new greenfield highway would be built between Agra and Gwalior from Yamuna Expressway to Gwalior bypass via Uttar Pradesh’s Shamshabad and Rajasthan’s Dholpur.
Bhopal - Kanpur Economic Corridor
Sagar Greenfield Link Road, built as part of the Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor, will reduce the distance from Bhopal to Kanpur by 21 km.
With the construction of the Bhopal - Kanpur Economic Corridor, the transportation of cement and minerals between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh would be easier and the logistic cost will be reduced.
This corridor is being built from Bhopal to Kanpur via Vidisha and Sagar at a cost of Rs 11,300 crore. It reduces the travel time between Bhopal and Kanpur from the present 15 hours to just 7 hours.
With the construction of this corridor, connectivity from Bhopal to Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi will be better.
