Muradnagar receiving sub-station.
Power supply commences beyond priority section on Delhi-Meerut-Ghaziabad Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor with the initiation of power supply to the auxiliary sub-station of Murad Nagar RRTS station from Murad Nagar receiving sub-station in the first phase.
The Murad Nagar RSS has been constructed to provide power to the stations and traction of the section after priority section including Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, Meerut South, and Partapur.
This RSS, with a capacity of 70 mega-watt (MW) and equipped with four transformers, now suppling power at 33 kilovolt (kV). This RSS will soon start power supply to other stations on this route.
An agreement with the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) ensures power supply in this section.
The 220 kV power from UPPTCL's grid substation is received at the Murad Nagar RSS which will further provide 25 kV power for train operations and 33 kV power for other RRTS station needs.
Simultaneously, 25 kV and 33 kV voltage cables are being installed on the RRTS viaduct. The installation of 25 kV cables from the RSS to the feeding post, overhead wires for train operation, and the 33kV cable to RRTS stations is in progress. These high-quality, high-capacity overhead wires will enable the trains to operate at the design speed.
The commissioning of power supply at Murad Nagar station has initiated the operation of all electrical equipment installed there, including escalators and lifts at the concourse as well as platform level.
In a commitment to green energy, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has installed a solar plant on the rooftop of Murad Nagar RSS.
This plant, comprising 80 solar panels with a total capacity of 540 watts, is expected to generate around 50,000 units of electricity annually.
The solar plant not only fulfils the internal power supply needs of Murad Nagar RSS, but also will contributes to the power supply on the other sections of the RRTS corridor.
The ongoing installation of solar panels at various locations along the RRTS corridor, including stations and depots, further emphasises NCRTC's commitment to sustainable practices.
Additionally, NCRTC is incorporating rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plants, green areas, LED bulbs, natural lighting, and energy-efficient air conditioners in all its power substations, RRTS stations, and depots.
