Nagpur, Feb 12 (PTI) Union Minister Raosaheb Danve on Saturday said the detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur high speed rail corridor, commonly called bullet train, will be completed by the end of this month or the first week of March.

He also said the Centre has run 1,900 'Kisan Rail' services to help farmers and the agriculture sector, wherein 50 per cent subsidy is given, and an amount of Rs 90 crore has already been allotted by the railways in this regard.

He said bullet train DPRs for seven corridors are underway.

The proposed Mumbai-Nagpur bullet train project is expected to reduce the travel time between the two cities from around 12 hours at present, via road, to just four hours.

The ambitious project envisages passengers travelling at over 300 km per hour between Mumbai and Nagpur, linking cities like Shahapur, Igatpuri, Nashik, Mehkar, Malegaon, Pulgaon, Wardha and Khapri.

The DPR work for the project is being carried out by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

NHSRCL was incorporated in 2016 under the Companies Act, 2013, to finance, construct, maintain and manage the High-Speed Rail Corridors in India. The Company has been modelled as a ‘Special Purpose Vehicle’ (SPV) in the joint sector with equity participation by the Central Government through the Ministry of Railways and two State Governments viz. Government of Gujarat and Government of Maharashtra.

NHSRCL is currently implementing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor.
