Gujarat: Adani Green Powers Up 1,000 MW Solar Capacity At Khavda, World's Largest Renewable Energy Park

Adani Green Energy, the renewable energy (RE) arm of the Adani Group, has operationalised an additional 448.95 MW of solar power projects in Khavda, Gujarat.
It's worth noting that Adani Green had initiated power generation from the world's largest renewable energy project in Khavda by activating 551 megawatts (MW) of solar power on 14 February.
As a result, India's largest renewable energy company has successfully brought online a combined capacity of 1,000 MW from solar power projects located in Khavda.
Spread across 726 sq km within the challenging terrain of the Rann desert, the Khavda RE park is set to generate 30 GW of power, supplying electricity to 16.1 million homes and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 58 million tonnes annually.
The planned capacity is expected to be operational within the next five years. Upon completion, the Khavda RE park will be the largest renewable energy installation globally.
Located in the Kutch district of Gujarat, Khavda is an ideal location for wind and solar energy projects. With abundant solar irradiation reaching approximately 2,060 kWh/m2, the area is well-suited for solar power generation. Moreover, Khavda boasts one of India's most favourable wind resources, with speeds averaging around 8 metres per second.
Over the past five years, Adani Green has conducted various studies, including geotechnical investigations, seismic studies, and detailed feasibility studies, before commencing development at this site.
This groundbreaking gigascale plant, unprecedented in the realm of clean energy, is expected to accelerate India’s ambitious goals of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality.
With the operationalisation of these plants, AGEL's total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 9,478 MW, in its journey towards a 45 GW capacity by 2030.
