Third Vande Bharat Train To Provide Better Comfort Rides To Passengers

  • The third Vande Bharat train will have upgraded passenger amenities with better comfort rides compared to the earlier two Vande Bharat trainsets.

The newly made Vande Bharat train with Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) onboard clocked 180 kmph as maximum speed during a trial run from Safdarjung station to Agra on 6 September.

The semi-high speed train manufactured at ICF in Chennai started at 3.45pm from Safdarjung station and reached at 5.30pm in Agra.

It was a smooth ride, and the CCRS was quite satisfied with the riding comfort and other technicalities involved in such trial inspection, said a senior Railway official present during the run.

The CCRS witnessed the braking trial during the return journey and both journeys were satisfactory, said the official. The CCRS clearance is crucial for commissioning of any new service in the Railways.

The route trial between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is expected to be the final trial this week, and after that, the Railway Board will take a final call for the commissioning of the service.

Before CCRS inspection, RDSO completed all required mandatory testing and issued the final speed certificate for operation of Vande Bharat trainset at maximum speed of 160 kmph on 5 September.

The third Vande Bharat train will have upgraded passenger amenities with better comfort rides compared to the earlier two Vande Bharat trainsets.

The latest Vande Bharat coaches have:

  • Four emergency lighting in each coach for powering the lights in case all electricity connections fail compared to none earlier.

  • Platform side cameras, including rearview cameras outside the coach, instead of two earlier.

  • Better heat ventilation and air-conditioning control by using a higher efficiency compressor with UV lamp for germ free supply of air.

  • Level-II safety integration certification for better train control management.

  • Separate ventilation duct on the side wall as against part of the traction motor earlier.

  • Two signal exchange lights on the coaches for exchange of signals with the wayside stations.

  • Fire detection system based on Aerosol fire suppression system in all coaches in place of just smoke detection system in the earlier coaches.

  • Bigger Passenger Information and Infotainment System of 32" in every coach instead of 24" earlier.

  • Better Coach Control Management System for monitoring air-conditioning, communication and feedback to control centre/maintenance staff through GSM/GPRS.
