Assam Finance Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday (4 October) attacked Congress and Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and said that the upcoming 2021 state assembly elections will be a fight between two civilisations.
Sarma said that BJP will form the government in Assam with 100 seats in the upcoming 2021 assembly elections.
He said that the upcoming assembly polls will be above garnering votes and will be an ideological battle between BJP and those who tried to corner the state government during the anti-CAA agitation.
Sarma also targeted AIUDF as one of the main enemies of the Assamese community, reports Times of India.
According to the report, Sarma has been targetting AIUDF by calling it a protector of illegal Bangladeshi migrants.
The BJP leader also attacked Congress during the speech and alleged that it had surrendered before the AIUDF ahead of the assembly polls for the sake of power.
“Today, we have marched ahead in the fight of civilizations. That’s why a party such as Congress has been compelled to surrender before AIUDF and is going for an alliance ahead of next year’s assembly polls,” Sarma said.
