Activists From PoK Slam Pakistan Over Human Rights Violations In The Region At UNHRC’s 43rd Session In Geneva

Political activists from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) urged the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNFRC) to save them and their rights from the oppression of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Nasir Aziz Khan, an activist from PoK informed the 43rd Session of the UNHRC at Geneva about the surge in human rights violations by Pakistan in the PoK and Gilgit Baltistan regions where political activists and civil society members have been targeted by the state machinery.

Khan also informed the gathering that terrorist networks and infrastructure continue to be intact in the region with leaders of banned outfits roaming around openly and freely.

Khan called on the UN body to push on Pakistan to take effective measures to constrict the activities of the ones promoting extremism, violence, and intolerance in the region and to release the political prisoners who have been incarcerated with as much as 40-80 years of imprisonment.

Another activist, Senge H Sering asked the Pakistani government to respect freedom of speech of the local people and refrain from declaring locals terrorists for demanding self-rule and share in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
