The central government is in the process of identifying the areas in ministries that require the induction of junior-level officers straight from sector verticals.

The Department of Personnel and Training has instructed every division in central ministries to create an induction material in which officers will be posted along with the background of the policy of flagship government programs.

“Secretary, DOPT has conveyed that during a recently held interaction of the Hon’ble Prime Minister with Secretaries of various Departments, one of the action points emerged was that expertise needs to be developed for officers having sectoral roles,” a letter circulated to various ministries late last month read, as reported by Indian Express.

The circular reiterated that sectoral issues and problems or policies that might be relevant while examining the proposal should be an essential requirement whilst preparing the referencing or the guidance material for the officers.

The mission and vision statement of the government, along with the success stories of the flagship programs, must also be included in the same.

The central government had created a 60-point action plan on the issue as Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested carrying out administrative reforms during his meeting with secretaries of all departments and ministries in September.
