28 members of the European Parliament are set to visit the Kashmir Valley on 29 October, just two days before the erstwhile state will formally turn into a Union Territory with a due legislature of its own, reports India Today.
The parliamentary panel of the European Parliament which is presently in India on a visit met with Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and were briefed by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval about the ground situation in the Valley.
The decision of the Government of India to facilitate and permit the visit of the European parliamentarians to the Valley also comes as a testament of the timely return of the normalcy in the Valley where major communications and mobility restrictions had been imposed until a few days ago.
It should be noted that internet connectivity remains cut down in the valley, while postpaid mobile communications have been restored to ease the distress among the masses.
